Pulsar ALFA Galactic Plane Survey Arecibo Project P2030 Progress Report
This report summarizes activity for the PALFA projects P2030 (survey), P2177 (general timing) and P2180 (timing of the relativistic pulsar J1906+0746) from 2006 to mid-2007. We discuss progress made toward the goals of our original 2004 survey proposal. We describe the end to end survey data-analysis pipeline and follow-up timing analyses of discovered pulsars. We also describe data products an...
متن کاملFour Highly Dispersed Millisecond Pulsars Discovered in the Arecibo PALFA Galactic Plane Survey
We present the discovery and phase-coherent timing of four highly dispersed millisecond pulsars (MSPs) from the Arecibo PALFA Galactic plane survey: PSRs J1844+0115, J1850+0124, J1900+0308, and J1944+2236. Three of the four pulsars are in binary systems with low-mass companions, which are most likely white dwarfs, and which have orbital periods on the order of days. The fourth pulsar is isolate...
متن کاملThe QUaD Galactic Plane Survey. II. A Compact Source Catalog
We present a catalog of compact sources derived from the QUaD Galactic Plane Survey. The survey covers ∼800 deg2 of the inner galaxy (|b| < 4◦) in Stokes I, Q, and U parameters at 100 and 150 GHz, with angular resolutions of 5 and 3.5 arcmin, respectively. Five hundred and twenty-six unique sources are identified in I, of which 239 are spatially matched between frequency bands, with 53 (234) de...
متن کاملMaser Astrometry with VLBI and the SKA
We discuss the unique opportunities for maser astrometry with the inclusion of the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) in Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) networks. The first phase of the SKA will enable observations of hydroxyl and methanol masers, positioning the latter to an accuracy of 5 microarcseconds, and the second phase may allow water maser observations. These observations will provi...
متن کاملAn SiO Maser Search off the Galactic Plane
We have searched for the SiO J = 1–0 v = 1 and 2 maser lines at ∼ 43 GHz in 277 2MASS/MSX/IRAS sources off the Galactic plane (|b| ∼ 3 ), which resulted in 119 (112 new) detections. Among the new detections, are two very faint objects with MSX 12μm flux densities below 2 Jy. These are likely to be O-rich AGB-stars associated with dwarf-galaxy tidal tails. The sample also includes medium bright ...
